Service Description

This class is for beginners, those who have never sewn before or have sewn a bit and a loooong time ago. Join instructor Diana Dorado, an expert designer with a career in the fashion world whose love for handmade and creativity have made her decide to teach others how to get started in the world of sewing. The goal of this class is that you gain confidence to take on any sewing challenge and that you are inspired to keep sewing! Sewing enthusiasts will learn how to use a sewing machine including: sewing machine safety, anatomy, threading, loading the bobbin, pattern-fabric layout, basic hand sewing, sewing buttons, sewing a zipper. You will make: *snappy pouch: this is one of our students' favorite! Learn straight lines, seam allowance, backstitch, fabric placement, and voilà, you have the cutest pouch! * groceries bag: you will learn the steps to making something reversible, the importance of seam allowance, topstitching. *fabric basket: this project will introduce you to using interfacing and reinforce making something reversible. *make up (or toiletries) bag: yes, you will sew a fully lined pouch with a zipper! Bring your smile, coffee or tea; come with a friend or 2, and let's get sewing! There will be 6 spots per class. Class is for adults only ages 18-99. No need to bring anything, there are beautiful fabrics to choose from at the workshop and all notions, supplies and use of sewing machine are included in payment. IMPORTANT: There are no refunds, make ups or credits for missed classes.

POLICIES

ONE DAY WORKSHOPS: There are no refunds, make-ups or credits for non-attendance. If notice is given 7+ days from workshop date, a full refund minus $25 non-refundable fee will be given. If cancellation is made 6 or less days before workshop date, no refund will be given. ADULT CLASSES: If notice is given 7+ days from workshop date, a full refund minus $25 non-refundable fee will be given. There are no refunds, make ups or credits for missed classes. Please review dates carefully to make sure you will be able to attend. Absences due to emergencies will be dealt on a case-by-case basis.
